GIDEON CONN SIGNS TO SKINNY DOG RECORDS, NAMES ALBUM, ANNOUNCES RELEASE DATE & CELEBRATES WITH FREE MP3 GIVEAWAY!
Manchester’s favourite young troubadour, Gideon Conn, has announced details of his debut album, ‘New Bop Sounds’ to be released by Mancunian imprint Skinny Dog Records this July. Gideon in conjunction with Skinny Dog has also announced a free MP3 giveaway, ‘Wildfire’, to be available from the week of 12th of April through the band’s MySpace page.
Through a steady trickle of limited singles, word of mouth and bravura live shows, Gideon Conn has been quietly building a devoted fan base over the last few years with his inimitable brand of highly literate, often amusing and even more often affecting ‘folk-hop’. A creative obsessive; Gideon’s knack for producing sculptures, drawings and paintings, coupled with his undoubted song-writing and live performance skills, have carved a unique niche for him in the heart of the UK’s art/pop firmament.
Seasoned experts at spotting a jewel amongst their midst, Skinny Dog are delighted to be releasing Gideon’s debut album this coming July, with ‘Wildfire’ as an early taster. ‘Wildfire’ sees the more serious side of Gideon’s talents come to the fore. A pretty straightforward diatribe on the evils of capitalism (“money fucks money… and money is sexy”.) with sleazy horns and rumbling bass ramming the point home.
Skinny Dog Records is a conglomerate of local Mancunian artists, including Guy Garvey from Elbow and members of I Am Kloot.
